Pantone Color 2012: Tangerine Tango

The official Pantone Color for 2012 is Tangerine Tango (17-1463)! This red-ish orange color has a lot of depth and seduction; Yet it is also vibrant and energetic!  Using this color immediately gives your wedding a statement!

Here is a blast-from-the-past wedding (2010 Yvonne+Jason) that uses an orange+green palette with a neutral grey — yes 2009, 2010, 2011.. grey was the new black!  (These beautiful mini calla are actually call “Mango” – but close enough!)  In any event, what ever color you choose for your wedding, it will be fabulous!

Wedding: Christine+Brian

I had the pleasure of working with Christine and Brian on their October wedding, not to mention a great ensamble of vendors.  They are a total DIY couple and I heart all the details of this wedding, invites, from menus, scrabble signage, dessert labels, and the mini desserts (all baked by the bride herself! Wow.). For the florals, Christine had purchased various vases, containers, and decorative items for the centerpieces, so I came up with ideas on how we could use it with the flowers.  Christine’s floral requests were:  succulents, texture, and any seasonal flowers using the color palete of eggplant, plum, and leaf green. Here’s the end result!  (Photography by: Sarina Love Photography)

Congratulations you two! Wishing you only the best! Thank you for allowing me to share in your special day!<3

Wedding: April+Josh

Now a days, most everything can be all done electronically. Even planning a wedding with your florist!  April is the simple modern bride. We communicated via email, pictures, links, etc. for her wedding floral details months before and up until THE DAY. I am so thankful that my clients entrust me (without ever meeting me) with one of their most important elements of their wedding – flowers.  Here are some beautiful photos of April+Josh on their DAY. (all photos provided by Winnie Ng of Cotton Love Studios)

This last photo was taken from my iphone as I was standing behind April. She hugged her sister right before walking down the aisle with her father. I was the only one there to capture this precious photo. Her sister said:  “OK, don’t cry!”  I think she was convincing herself! So cute.

Sneak Peek: Yvonne & Jason’s Hawaii Wedding

I’ve been in Hawaii many times, but never to work a wedding.  So this time, I had the privilage to work with the super duper organized and fashion savvy bride, Yvonne, on her dream wedding to Jason.  This was an extra special event for me as it was a destination wedding, I was the florist & the reception coordinator (ceremony coordinator Gail Alviar) , plus Yvonne and I worked on this event since she got engaged!  And the ultimate PLUS, Yvonne is my new official cousin by marriage!  Extra special I tell you!

OK, so there are ups and downs of being the florist AND the coordinator, but it’s all worth it!  Destinations take extra extra planning (on the bride’s part and all the vendors that are NOT local).  Also, be prepared for shipping fees if you can’t find what you need on the island!.  BUT again, it’s all worth it, we had a dream wedding that was “jaw dropping “, said the groom himself!  Here are some rough prep photos for your imagination!   Official blog to be posted a bit later, so come back soon.

Hollywood-inspired Beach-shore Wedding Gala!

Our Wedding
Our Wedding

I hesitate to call this blog entry  “Our Simple Wedding”  (and hence changed it) because it seemed simple, but …. it was work!  From concept to completion, I had fun making our “simple looking” event seem effortless, all the while, DIYing mostly everything.

Before planning our wedding, we chose 3 words in which we wanted our wedding to be and feel like:  FUN, MODERN, OFF-BEAT!   I think we nailed it right on!   Our “Hollywood” theme was a continuation of our OK! Magazine Save-the-Date cards and Movie Poster wedding invitations

Our wedding came and went so fast, even though we had family and friends helping days before and hanging out with them days after.  As a wedding planner and floral designer, I had to resist the urge to keep on top of everything that day.  I was fortunate to have a great crew behind me to carry out Jayson’s and my vision.

We selected an awsome photographer, Taylor Abeel, from Ventana Photography and recieved our digital photos last week.  The detail photos are my fav.. and also the fun ones!  Here are some of my picks to share with you the events of our day:

Setup decor crew decided to put the tissue pompoms along the aisle instead of hanging them over head. This turned out to be THE BEST executive design change without me knowing! Some things just work better at the last minute!

"I'm Yours" movie script (wedding programs). Programs were half the size of an 8.5" X 11" paper and was about 8 pages .. sounds long, but as guests started reading, it made for a fun read and not long at all!

The script had the format of a real movie script. It starts off with "FADE IN:" and continued with a brief narration of the setting (2002) and how we met.

Scene 2 describes "7 years later" (our wedding day), and describes the ceremony with all the bridal party named out in narration form.

Then the script described that the guests disperse around the Garden Patio after the ceremony (in which they do... !) and describes the Hors D' ouvres available. In this photo above, the bottom part said: BRIAN: What are you goin to order" EDDIE: I think I'm goin to try the Signature Drink Passionfruit Mimosa. BRIAN: You're fruity. =) (we like throwing some humor in there!)

We included some dialog among some of the wedding party about the seating arrangement, as a way of telling the guests where they would sit (Open seating!)

The ending of the script describes guests leaving. One of the bridesmaids say good-bye to me in the script and I remind her of the "Happily-Ever After-Party!

The address for the After Party is provided in the script, and then the script ends! (We did add a page for "Special Thank Yous", and "Credits" in which we listed all vendors involved with our wedding!)

The Guests. I love this picture because I was able to look back at see where everyone was sitting and their reactions.. I would have never remembered this.

Red carpet walkway; Entrance into the reception area! (The movie scipt programs did not mention the red carpet even, as we wanted it to be a nice surprise entrance to the reception!) Everyone was VIP!
